My Prom 75 – Beethoven’s Symphony No 9

Conductor – Alan Gilbert with the most impressive of choirs – Members of the Leipzig Opera Chorus; Leipzig Gewandhaus Choir; Leipzig Gewandhaus Children’s Choir; London Symphony Chorus; Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra.

Tonight was the penultimate night of the 2014 Proms season and my final Prom this year.  But what a corker of a concert  Beethoven’s Symphony No 9.

An incredible evening.  So drawn in were we to the music that I didn’t notice the time pass and no interval taken.  I love this one of Beethoven’s works and it was bought to life by the orchestra but certainly from the incredibly talented choir.  We felt the full force of the voices pin us to our seats when their first notes were sung.

Joyous, beautiful and enthralling way to close my Proms 2014 season.
